W Energy Celebrates Its Tenth Anniversary and Unveils New Business Name
W Energy, now rebranded as W Energy Software to reflect its customer-focused mission, is celebrating its tenth anniversary as a Tulsa-based leader in cloud-based upstream and midstream ERP solutions for over 100 energy companies, having grown through strategic acquisitions and expanded software offerings since its 2009 founding to support the full oil and gas value chain with integrated, data-driven tools.
W Energy, an emerging leader in upstream and midstream ERP software, is celebrating its tenth year of business, serving more than 100 companies across the energy value chain. This anniversary coincides with a year marked by rapid market share growth, strategic acquisitions, and organizational expansion to meet increasing demand for the company’s cloud-based ERP solutions. The Tulsa-based software developer has also updated its name to “W Energy Software” to better align with its mission of redefining and modernizing energy software, marking both its anniversary milestone and the next stage of growth. The new name, "W Energy Software" or "WE," reflects the company’s focus on customers, collaboration, and solving business challenges together.
Founded in 2009, W Energy Software began with the vision of creating a unified ERP software platform on the cloud, providing energy companies with a cost-effective and integrated suite of tools. This approach enables users to work with a single dataset and rapidly analyze data, in contrast to other solutions that combine disparate technologies. The company initially addressed midstream plant accounting challenges and the logistical complexities of oil, gas, and natural gas liquids (NGL) transportation. In 2010, it expanded its midstream and upstream software suite, and in 2013, introduced division order management and group transportation software modules. Today, W Energy Software is a leading provider of oil & gas ERP software supporting the full energy value chain.
Pete Waldroop, CEO and Founder of W Energy Software, stated, “Our new name, W Energy Software, is a logical evolution that clearly defines what we do and our commitment to building straightforward and clearly defined oil & gas ERP solutions. It underscores our unique way of doing business that puts our customer and their brand first instead of ours.” Waldroop added, “For years, customers have known us as simply ‘WE,’ which perfectly describes how our unique culture creates customer value, as it is truly about solving business challenges together—a concept already present in ‘WE Connect,’ our annual software user conference.” He concluded, “Ten years after launching the business, W Energy Software has established itself as the oil & gas ERP software of choice, as evidenced by our increasing market share and new customers who have left the competition in droves. Again, it’s all something WE have built together as a team and with our valued clients.”
Waldroop, a veteran energy professional and executive manager, previously led initiatives for Quorum Software and Accenture before founding W Energy Software. The company remains under his leadership, maintaining its commitment to customer value that has driven its growth into a category leader for oil & gas ERP software. The anniversary and name change follow the recent appointment of Mark Hill as Chief Revenue Officer, who is tasked with scaling the company for sustained growth. These developments mark 2019 as a significant milestone of business transformation, with W Energy Software poised for even greater achievements in 2020.
