Evx Midstream Partners With W Energy Software
W Energy Software has deployed its cloud-based transportation management solution at EVX Midstream, enabling a pioneering produced water logistics service in the Eagle Ford basin that automates trucking dispatch and optimizes disposal routes to reduce costs, emissions, and operational complexity for producers by leveraging a virtual trucking fleet and real-time management tools.
W Energy Software, a leader in upstream and midstream oil & gas SaaS ERP solutions, has completed the deployment of its transportation management solution at EVX Midstream. This partnership introduces a first-of-its-kind produced water logistics service for Eagle Ford producers, expanding EVX Midstream’s midstream service offerings. The new service uses cloud-based algorithmic tools to automate trucking dispatch to nearby water haulers and provides optimal disposal well routes, resulting in significant savings on produced water transportation costs for EVX Midstream’s customers.
“It’s like Uber for water haulers; by leveraging auto-dispatch technology and a mobile app for water haulers, EVX Midstream makes water hauling a simple and seamless process for our producer customers.”
– Herb Chambers IV, Chief Executive Officer at EVX Midstream.
The system automatically creates an order for the closest truck as soon as tanks reach a specified capacity. Every step is optimized to conserve fuel, prevent trucks from waiting in line, reduce emissions, and minimize deadhead runs. This process is hands-free for producers, who also benefit from transportation cost efficiencies.
EVX Midstream, headquartered in Houston, is a leading provider of crude oil, natural gas, and produced water services in the Eagle Ford basin of South Texas. W Energy Software’s technology enables EVX to enhance its Eagle Ford gathering system and pipelines with a “virtual trucking fleet,” eliminating the need to acquire and manage its own truck fleet by leveraging customers’ existing water carrier services.
By transitioning water hauling operations to EVX Midstream, producers eliminate costs associated with dispatch and processing carrier invoices. Producers can outsource 100% of their water transportation operations, streamline accounts payable with a consolidated invoice, and gain deeper insight into water transport at every stage with a real-time dashboard.
The go-live process included:
- On-time delivery of all software components, configurations, and testing of W Energy Software’s transportation management solution.
- Implementation of AXLEHub, providing a cloud-based suite of back-office management tools to automate and streamline carrier workflows, including dispatch, producer invoicing, payroll, inventory, and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) regulatory reporting.
- TollTagger mobile app for Apple and Android devices on dedicated tablets, offering continuously optimized turn-by-turn directions to help drivers avoid traveling long distances with empty tanks and minimize fuel costs.
- Dedicated W Energy Software implementation experts who integrated water tank SCADA data and ensured carrier data migration from EVX Midstream’s producer customers.
“This is much more than a software implementation, it’s a strategic partnership with EVX Midstream where we co-own success,” said Pete Waldroop, W Energy Software’s CEO.
“Our state-of-the-art transportation management solution is steadily drawing the attention of forward-looking companies like EVX Midstream who understand that profound operational and cost efficiencies can be created through automation and mobile technology. It’s a win for everyone involved in managing produced water, especially for producers who can finally get out of the transportation management business, lower their lifting costs, and focus more resources on E&P workflows.”
- Pete Waldroop, CEO, W Energy Software

Upstream vs Midstream Oil & Gas Software
The oil and gas industry is divided into upstream and midstream sectors with distinct software needs, where upstream focuses on exploration, drilling, production, and reservoir management to locate and extract hydrocarbons, requiring specialized software to ensure safety, compliance, and operational efficiency tailored to these initial extraction activities.
The Future of Oil & Gas
The article discusses how oil and gas companies are transitioning from error-prone, manual, and disparate systems to integrated, seamless field-to-finance platforms that unify production, operations, accounting, and land management data into a single, automated system to improve efficiency, accuracy, and profitability.
Bringing The Benefits Of The Digital Oilfield To Water Management
The article explains how the Permian Basin's high volumes of produced saltwater from oil extraction have driven a rapid expansion and digital transformation in water management infrastructure and services, enabling efficient tracking, transportation, disposal, and recycling of produced water for uses like hydraulic fracturing and irrigation, thereby creating specialized midstream companies that operate similarly to upstream oil operators.
Improving Safety With A Digital First Approach
The article argues that traditional oil and gas safety methods, reliant on paperwork and disconnected compliance forms, create administrative burdens that treat safety as a mere checkbox rather than an integrated priority, and advocates for adopting digital-first solutions like Oil & Gas Field Service Management Software to embed safety protocols directly into operational workflows, thereby enhancing real-time compliance and reducing risks more effectively.
